Serra de Tramuntana

The well-known Serra de Tramuntana is the main mountain range in the Balearic Islands and is declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site within the Cultural Landscapes category.

90km long and located in the north east of Mallorca, the Serra de Tramuntana is known for its spectacular landscapes and famous towns and coves. Its rich and diverse cultural, historic and gastronomic heritage attract thousands each year, tourists and locals alike. It’s definitely a spot not to be missed while on while on holiday in Mallorca.

One of the best-known places in the Serra de Tramuntana is the sanctuary par excellence in Mallorca, known as Santuari de Lluc, which has been a place of pilgrimage for hundreds of years. The current temple was completed in 1691 and has become a cultural and religious landmark on the island. Its beauty and history definitely make it worth a visit.

Campanet

Located at the foot of the Serra de Tramuntana, the small town of Campanet is worth a visit if you want to immerse yourself in authentic Mallorcan life. Although it’s well-connected by road, it’s definitely off the beaten track and is never crowded with tourists.

All the roads in the town lead to the Plaça Major, home to the Church of Inmaculada Concepción, which dates back to 1700. The location of the town itself makes it particularly charming, so a visit to Campanet and a wander around its streets will make you fall even more in love with Mallorca.

Coves de Campanet

The Coves de Campanet are located in the Puig de Sant Miquel, in the Serra de Tramuntana. These caves were discovered relatively recently, in 1945, and measure 3,200m².

If you decide to visit, you’ll spend 40 minutes exploring the different galleries and rooms.

Ses Fonts Ufanes

One of the most spectacular trips in Mallorca is a visit to Ses Fonts Ufanes. This is a unique natural phenomenon in Mallorca and consists of a series of natural fountains which spurt out from underground, normally after a period of rain. If you want to get the most out of the experience, check the recent weather before going!

It’s an easy route through a pretty forest and isn’t too long, so it’s perfect for the whole family. As this spot really is one of a kind, Ses Fonts Ufanes were declared a Natural Monument by the Government of the Balearic Islands in 2001.
