A picture-postcard town with pure Majorcan essence.

Campanet, a picture-postcard town in the Sierra de Tramuntana

Do you know Campanet, in Mallorca? It’s one of the most beautiful towns on the island and is located in the middle of the Sierra de Tramuntana, classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

The municipal boundaries of Campanet make it contiguous with Pollença, Escorca, Sa Pobla, Selva and Búger, which are also among Mallorca’s best-known towns. Campanet is a typical picture-postcard town, surrounded by almond trees in its own valley, and with attractive stone-built houses and rural and natural landscapes such as Pla de Tel and the Sant Miquel valley.

As for the festivals and traditions of Campanet, you mustn’t miss the weekly market or, if you’re coming in July, the Festes de Sant Victorià. This is the local summer festival, and various open-air concerts, music shows and activities are put on for all to enjoy.

Places to visit in Campanet

Campanet Caves

This is one of the most beautiful places on the island and naturally, therefore, one of the main attractions in the municipality of Campanet. With a total surface area of some 3,200 m2, the caves are moreover surrounded by a beautiful rural landscape typical of the Sierra de Tramuntana. To visit the caves, don’t forget to dress comfortably and be prepared to discover the incredible galleries and fascinating stalagmites and stalactites. Don’t miss it!

Ses Fonts Ufanes

Ses Fonts Ufanes, which have been classified as an official Natural Monument since 2001, are one of the most striking natural phenomena on Mallorca. Located in Campanet, they are natural springs that periodically gush with water and after heavy rainfall, they do so with particular force (hence, it should be noted, they are not always in full flow). They are to be found in the Finca Gabellí Petit; they are easy to reach via a short and attractive walk lasting around 20 minutes there and 20 minutes back, making it a perfect trip for children too.

Weekly market

Campanet’s local market is one of the most popular on Mallorca. You’ll find all manner of fresh and locally-grown produce on offer, such as seasonal fruit and vegetables, Mallorcan cheeses and sausages such as sobrasada, and even flowers, clothes and footwear.

The market is held every Tuesday and Saturday without fail in the Plaza Mayor, from 8:00 to 13:00. It’s not to be missed! If you’d like to know a bit more about local markets, here is a link to another post about the Markets in Mallorca.
