Enjoy the island during the lively summer season

Mallorca is one of the most popular destinations in the Mediterranean, so if you have chosen it to enjoy your next summer holidays, it’s a sure-fire winner! But to make everything easier for you and to ensure you need only concern yourself with relaxation and enjoyment, in today’s post we’ll be telling you about three things to do on Mallorca in summer. Let’s get down to business!

A relaxing beach day

As you no doubt know, Mallorca is famous for its beautiful beaches and secluded coves, each one more spectacular than the last. This is why, although it may seem obvious, revelling in a beach and relaxation day is indispensable during the Mallorcan summer. Some of the most highly recommended beaches and areas are Bahía de Alcúdia, Can Picafort and Pollensa, all of which offer fine sand and not too deep, crystal-clear waters, making them perennial favourites among families.

Moreover, beaches such as Alcúdia and Platja de Muro extend for a very long way and have a permanent breeze, so that although they are popular, they never become overcrowded. Close to these marvellous beaches various leisure facilities and restaurants may be found, and just a few kilometres away (some 25 minutes) it is possible to visit a range of interesting towns, such as Campanet, where the famous Campanet caves are located.

If you want to find out more about the best beaches in and around the Sierra de Tramuntana, we invite you to read our other post regarding Sierra de Tramuntana beaches on Mallorca.

Hiking in the Sierra de Tramuntana

You can go hiking on Mallorca at any season of the year, but in summer it makes an indispensable activity. One of the best areas to go hiking and enjoy nature and the finest views in the Sierra de Tramuntana, officially designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011.

If you like adventure and excursions, regardless of your degree of expertise, the north-western part of Mallorca is a must, offering a host of options. Among experienced walkers some of the most popular excursions are those that set off from the monastery of Lluc or Pollença, for example. There are also various medium-to-easy walks that are shorter but equally attractive, passing through natural and cultivated areas.

Monnàber Vell Agrotourism Hotel, located in Campanet at the foot of the Sierra de Tramuntana, has prepared a range of easy and short walks departing from the hotel and taking in landscapes replete with olive, almond and carob trees. It also recommends specific routes and the maps are available on its website.

Having done some exercise, a great idea is to go and eat a delicious paella at one of the Mallorcan restaurants in the area. After a brief siesta and to round off a splendid summer’s day on Mallorca, don’t forget to book a relaxing massage at a natural spa.

Water sports

In addition to the beaches, water sports provide one of Mallorca best summer activities. For lovers of the Mediterranean Sea, many of the island’s beaches offer an endless range of sports for all ages, tastes and levels of expertise. From scuba diving to paddle surfing, yoga on the beach, windsurfing or kitesurfing. Activities such as these are at the top of many people’s lists, and we have no doubt that you’ll find a water sport that is perfect for you.
