The sport par excellence in Mallorca. Discover the island by bike
Year after year, Mallorca exceeds itself yet again and becomes one of the key destinations for those who want to enjoy cycle tourism, both alone and as part of a group.
This comes as no surprise, as the island offers many kilometres of ideal roads, all of which are well connected for group cycling. It also has stone trails around the Serra de Tramuntana that are perfect for those of you who love a descent surrounded by the unbeatable Mallorcan landscape.
When in Mallorca, you’ll always find the perfect route to suit your cycling level and you’ll always be able to get from A to B, wherever you are on the island. Campanet is definitely one of the best starting points for cycle tourism routes.
Campanet’s geographic location facilitates its connection with other areas and very attractive municipalities for tourism on two wheels, such as Pollença and Alcudia, located just 16km and 19km away, respectively. From here you’ll be able to enjoy points of interest such as the ancient Roman wall, which is still partly conserved in Alcudia, or in Pollença you can head to the Sa Creueta viewpoint or the Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles Parish.
You’ll also be able to visit Inca, located 9.4km away. Here you’ll find a wide range of bars that are very popular among cyclists, in addition to restaurants where you can stop for a meal and a well-earned rest.
If you’re a confident cyclist, another option is to head in land on the island to areas such as Sineu, 20km from Campanet. One of the main attractions in Sineu is its weekly market. Locals and tourists alike head to the market every Wednesday to buy artisan products, Mallorcan delicacies, fresh fruit and vegetables and even livestock. Sineu market is one of the biggest on the island and that’s what makes it a good place to visit on a Wednesday.
All the destinations we’ve mentioned are aimed at cyclists who prefer the roads, for training or leisure, but as we’ve said before, Mallorca has a fantastic and unique green landscape. This is exactly what makes this Balearic island a Mediterranean treasure.
The Serra de Tramuntana has hundreds of heritage examples that you’ll come across while out on your bike. Head up the stone trails or the old paths used by the Carboners (people who were responsible for making coal and carrying it down into the town) or the Nevaters (people responsible for one of the most important activities in 20th century Mallorca – collecting and selling ice).
As you can see, there’s a wide range of cycle tourism routes on the island. That’s why, year after year, Mallorca is the top destination for cyclists. It’s one of the best ways to explore the island, healthily.
